Self reflexivity: this involves the seemingly paradoxical combination of self-consciousness and some sort of historical grounding. Memento is self reflective because he is constantly questioning what he should be thinking and who to trust. Fight Club has these elements where they brake the 4th wall.
Irony: Post modernism uses irony as a primary mode of expression, but it also abuses, installs, and subverts conventions and usually negotiates contradictions through irony. An example of this is the title Born Free by M.I.A. is about ginger haired people who are killed for the colour of their hair. Inglorious Basterds is another example because it abuses the conventions of war films because usually they are based on true storys but Inglorious Basterds clearly changes the history with the ending.
Boundaries: Post modernism challenges the boundaries between genres, art forms, theory and art, high art and the mass media. An example of this is Inglorious Basterds changes the generic conventions of war films because it hasn't based its film on a true story but changes history and made it obvious that they had do that. Pulp Fiction is a mainstream film 24 hour party people braking the 4th wall fight club brakes the 4th wall. Fight Club is like a drama as well as being an action film.
Constructs: Post modernism is actively involved in examining the constructs society creates including, but not exclusively, the following:
Nation: Post modernism examines the construction of nations/nationality and questions such constructions
Gender: Post modernism reassesses gender, the construction of gender, and the role of gender in cultural formations. An example of this is in Fight Club where they feel to be masculine they have to fight. When Edward Nortons character goes to the testicular cancer club Bob says to him 'Are we men?' after having his testicles removed
Race: Post modernism questions and reassesses constructs of race. An example of this is in M.I.A.'s Born Free video the ginger haired people are killed just for the colour of their hair which we normally hear this type of act associated the different races. pulp fiction is related strongly to race because they constantly refer back to the bible. Marcel in Inglorious Basterds is a black man working in the cinema has to stay way from everyone because he is black
Sexuality: Post modernism questions and reassesses constructs of sexuality. An example of this is in fight club where to me seen as males they had to do masculine things like fight
